Cuisine British traditional

Menu: £10 (weekday lunch) - Carte: £24/£34

Dependable village local with cottagey dining room and lovely terrace. Menus are fairly formal and classical, offering the likes of home-cured gravadlax, roast duck, venison steak and old-fashioned puddings. Individually themed bedrooms are cosy and well-kept.

my girlfriend and i visited the angel inn with 2 of our friends last saturday evening... from start to finish the service was impeccible.... as we had heard they have a new head chef so we decided to try 4 different starters and the same with main courses... personnally i had the goats cheese truffles, my significant half had the lightly smoked ham hock terrine, our friends had the ballontine and the diver caught scallops with confit chicken. the contrast of flavours, presentation and quality of ingredients was out of this world. then we had the main courses (WOW).... as with the starters we all decided to go with 4 different main courses. i had the venison, my other half had the creedy carver duck, our friends had the partridge and the fillet.... all of these main courses were outstanding with silky smooth puree's deep and flavoursome sauces, quality meat and amazing ingredients... by this point we were a little bit stuffed but as we had, had an amzing meal and great service we decided to with the puds... valrhona chocolate fondant wit a chocolate mousse cup and those boozy griottine cherries... we also shared the pineapple tart tatin with crisp pineapple and a delicate pineapple sorbet... yummy. then by this point we feel we had had atleast a 3 rossette meal/michelin starred food. i would highly reccomend this place to anyone who visits it. the whole experience with service/drink and food was the best we have had for a long time and will re-visit this special place time and time again... p.s they also have rooms for those of you who want a special night away.(we did)
