Pros

impromptu birthday lunch one of many excellent meals, highlights a ham hock & black pudding with wild garlic crumble, a birthday treat of lobster with new season morels and truffle, and steak with beer mustard hollandaise and crispy salty beef pasty. Excellent beer and well priced burgundy and usual great service made it a lovely day out, very good with children too. Remains one of the best in the country.

Cons

Nothing , it improves almost imperceptibly with every visit.

Lovely ambience, well set out. Very homely and welcoming. The salmon starter was excellent as was the crab. For mains the fish pie was delicious. Very decent sized portions meant accommodating dessert was tough, but the chocolate option was yum! Service was good.
