Delightful thatched pub off the beaten track, with simple country styling and a cosy, characterful feel. Daily menus focus on carefully sourced, seasonal ingredients and the down-to-earth dishes are stunning in their simplicity, precisely composed and packed with flavour. Set opposite, the smart, well-equipped bedrooms come with private terraces; all have river views.

      Pros

Very busy friendly pub with a nice atmosphere. Friendly staff; very good homemade bread and high quality starters and main fish course. It was the best soup I had eaten in a long while. Varied wine list, which was sensibly priced. Easily merits its star.

      Cons

List of puddings was perhaps a bit unappealing. No extra courses were given.
