savory pancakes were very dry mini burgers over priced baked Alaska had uncooked meringue. can't imagine that this kitchen at lunchtime could produce wannabe Michelin starred evening fine dining. waiting staff appeared disorganised and uninterested

Pros
This is starting to become a seroius contender in north Norfolk, having recently won has won the coveted East of England Tourism 'Small Hotel of the Year Award. So whats the atraction? Let's start with proper cream teas in the afternoon, move on to a super cocktail bar (for those enjoying the comfy hotel rooms of course) and move onto an ever increasingly confident team led by Eric Smith. Our last trip with 11 friends (and two dogs) saw us all tucking into a seven course degustation provided for us within the limits of our bed and breakfast dining allowance. Ambience is county hotel rather then fine dining with attentive and chatty staff ensuring that timings for a large party at the end of the service were all met and everyone made to feel relaxed.. A real joy with a mix of four main courses supported with smaller amusements in between. Real confidence in flavours and colours, presentation and local suppliers, collided to ensure a truly enjoyable feast. Top of the list for me was the three types of lamb and an amazing mango sweet. Fresh fish will always be an attraction here and seasonal local shellfish enjoyed on other visits has made this trip to the North Norfolk Coast a regular diversion. Note breakfasts are excellent too especially the locally smoked haddock. Off for two nights this Christmas. Lets see what they can make of that!
