The poet Willliam Wordsworth was born in this elegant neoclassical Georgian house (1745) in 1770 and spent his childhood here. Some of his own furniture still stands here and you can see some of his work, documents associated with his career and the Wordsworth family tree. The garden descends towards the River Derwent.
