Monastiráki Square : Michelin's recommendations

This square, highly animated in the mornings, constitutes one of the attractions of Athens with its second-hand clothes shops and open-air stalls. The Pandánassa, a restored sanctuary, rebuilt in the 17C on older remains, was previously dependent on the monastery which gave its name to the square. At the corner of Pandrossou Street and Areos Street stands the Dzistarákis Mosque (1759), minus its minaret, but skilfully restored to become home to the Museum of Popular Greek Ceramics in 1975.
