From Sfakiá, two excursions are possible. One leads along a steep road through beautiful scenery to the Arádaina gorge (the view from its metal bridge is impressive!), before continuing to the mountain village of Ágios Ioánnis. The second leads to Vryses along a high route surrounded by tall mountains, offering spectacular plunging views over the wild and sparsely inhabited south coast.
