Dodona
Dodona
: Michelin's recommendations
The tarmac road climbs the mountain (magnificent views) before reaching the ancient site of Dodona (630m). To the southwest rises the Tomaros massif, reaching a height of 1 974m. Dodona originated as a temple initially dedicated to Dione, and later to Zeus when the Greeks arrived. It was dominated by its acropolis, of which part of the wall survives. On entering, note firstly the site of the late-3C BC stadium. On the left, the theatre is one of Ancient Greece’s largest and best preserved.
