Although the port of Adámas is where most of the island's commerce and essential services are concentrated, the true heart of Mílos is in Pláka. Here, among the whitewashed houses, is an Archaeological Museum housing a copy of the famous Venus (the original is in Paris) as well as the Lady of Filakopí, a clay figurine representing a female divinity, scarcely 20cm high. The village is dominated by the ruins of a Frankish castle (kástro) incorporating a 13C chapel and surrounded by windmills. There is a good panoramic view from here.
