Platía Síndagma (Constitution Square) is the centre of Náfplio and was the political forum during the Revolution (c 1822). From here there is a view of Palamedes Fort (Palamídi) on its hill; a former mosque known as the Parliament because it held the first meeting of the Greek National Assembly in 1822; Ágios Geórgios (St George's Cathedral) built in the 16C in a mixture of styles (Venetian arcades, campanile and Byzantine domes); the Frankish Church (Frangoklissiá) and its Memorial to the Philhellenes who fell in the Greek War of Independence.
