The harbour extends on both sides of Platía Latroú, a square containing the Town Hall, St Nicholas' Church for sailors (early 18C) and a monument to the French Philhellenes (''friends of the Greeks'' during the Revolution). The western waterfront (Aktí Miaoúli) continues along a path that skirts the ramparts and the headland, providing magnificent views of the bay. Don't miss the Chapel of the Little Virgin (Panagítsa) clinging precariously to the rocky slope. During the Turkish occupation it contained one of the ''secret schools''.
