The museum is located next to Alépotripa Cave, which was used for habitation, storage, religious rites and also for burial. Items from the Neolithic period found there are on display in the museum: a fine collection of weapons, tools made of stone and bone, earthenware jars and other vessels, utensils and other domestic items (needles), as well as human skulls and skeletons. The cave was abandoned after an earthquake blocked the entrance.
