The Macedonian Ethnological Museum is devoted to the popular art and traditions of northern Greece. Models and photographs illustrate rural and urban architecture. Traditional costume, in particular formal dress, is presented by region. One room is devoted to the lifestyle of the Sarakatsani, nomadic mountain shepherds. There is a reconstruction of a 19C reception room. Also illustrated is the Karagiósis shadow theatre, as well as everyday life prior to the industrial era.
