Triumphal Arch Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

This triumphal arch was erected in the 4C in honour of the Emperor Galerius' victory over the Persians. The pillars were decorated with low reliefs celebrating his conquests. The south pillar is the best preserved. On the outer face starting at the base: war scenes with elephants and a lion; a sacrifice showing Galerius (right) and his father-in-law Diocletian; Galerius' triumph; Galerius addressing his soldiers. On the inside face, at the base: Mesopotamia and Armenia, represented by two women showing their submission.
