Vátheia : Michelin's recommendations

The atmosphere becomes increasingly strange, permeated by a deep silence, when Váthia rises up on the horizon, its many towers standing out atop a solitary peak in a scene of dramatic austerity. The soul of the wild Máni Peninsula, at the southern tip of the Peloponnese, seems to be concentrated in this village in the middle of nowhere. The partly restored tower houses have been sadly forsaken by their inhabitants. From the top of the spur there is a splendid view of Cape Matapan (or Ténaro), in the far south of the Máni Peninsula.
