Zagorá
: Michelin's recommendations
Tucked away in the midst of a thick cover of forest, Pelion's largest village is less attractive than its neighbours. It was, however, an important centre for the Hellenic cultural renaissance which took place during the Ottoman Era, as well as an active crafts centre. Today, the surrounding orchards provide the main source of income. Among the various churches, it is worth having a look at Agía Kiriakí and Agios Geórgios (St George's Church), which contains a huge 18C iconostasis (decorated screen), carved and gilded.
