The remains of fortifications from the 12C BC and a cistern from the Hellenistic period (300-100 BC) can be seen at this end of the fortress. On the right, a postern opens to the southeast. On the left is the entrance to the underground stair; its 99 steps wind around beneath the walls to a secret cistern 18m below ground level. Follow the north rampart to exit the acropolis through the North Gate.
