The Agora, a small square preceding the Sanctuary of Apollo, is where the visit begins, the same way taken by pilgrims in Antiquity. Four steps lead up to the main entrance of the temenos, the sacred precinct, with a wall dating from the 4C BC. It has nine entrances and encloses a trapezoidal area 200m by about 130m, of which the lower area contains the votive offerings and Treasuries. While walking up the Sacred Way, don't miss the Treasury of the Athenians, a Doric building (490-480 BC) in white Parian marble.
