St Nicholas' Monastery Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

This monastery devoted to St Nicholas dating from the 15C, or even from the 13C or 14C, sits atop a narrow peak to which it appears to be joined. At the top of the stairs is the refectory, then the catholicon (16C), a narrow church capped with a windowless dome; the monks' cells are on the upper floor. Note the highly expressivefrescoes, masterpieces of harmony by Theophanes the Cretan (16C), in particular the Virgin and Child and the Last Judgement.
