Vergina Highly Recommended Highly Recommended Highly Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

In an exceptionally beautiful site on the outskirts of the modern village of Vergina stand the ruins of Aigai, the ancient Macedonian capital, unearthed by French archaeologists in 1856. Excavations resumed in the 1930s with a Greek team, and archaeological work continues here to this day. Manolis Andronikos discovered the royal tombs (most notably the tomb of Philip II), around which a museum has been built.
