Heading south from Corfu Town, follow the curve of Garítsa Bay to the suburb of Anemómilos, where the villas are surrounded by gardens. Take Odós Iassonou Sossipatrou, which leads to Ágios Iássonas-Sossípatros, a 12C Byzantine church with beautiful icons. The road crosses the site of ancient Corcyra and skirts the villa Mon Repos, built in 1824 by the British. Surrounded by a beautiful park, it was later given to the Greek royal family. Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, was born there in 1921.
