Since 1995, Basse-Terre has been classified by France’s ministry of culture as an art and history town. Located in a superb early 19C bourgeois residence, the Maison du patrimoine (heritage centre) offers facilities ranging from conferences to the cultural – temporary exhibitions (architecture, art, history…), free and open to all. It also organises three interesting tours of Basse-Terre, under the aegis of two inspiring guides.
