Békéscsaba : Michelin's recommendations

The peaceful city of Békéscsaba is the birthplace of the great 19C Hungarian painter Mihály Munkácsy, so it naturally has a museum dedicated to him (Munkácsy Mihály Múzeum). His uncle’s villa (Munkácsy Emlékház), where paintings by the artist are exhibited, is also open to the public. Make sure you visit the Slovak House (Szlovák Tájház), a beautiful example of a traditional house, and the enchanting Fairy Tale House (Meseház) with its collection of puppets for both children and adults.
