In 1997, the People's Stadium (Népstadion) which forms part of an immense sports ground held the European Athletics Championships. Take the big road Ifjúság útja lined with monumental sculptural groups exalting sport and the army. To the North of the stadium a quarter spreads out that is made up mostly by detached houses, at No. 14 Stefánia út, the Institute of Geology is a very fine example of the Secession style attributed to Ödön Lechner.
