The pretty synagogue on Rumbach Street, which closed at the end of World War II, reopened to visitors in 2006. Built between 1869 and 1872, it was one of the earliest works of Viennese architect Otto Wagner. The façade, with its multicoloured bricks and two towers resembling minarets (a feature mirrored in the Great Synagogue on Dohány Street) is Moorish in style, as is the richly decorated interior, built according to an octagonal plan.
