Eger remained under Ottoman domination from 1596 to 1687. During this 90-year period, the Turks laid out the town according to their customs and needs, building mosques and baths. Very little remains today of this era and only the minaret is well conserved. Over 40m high, it has 14 sides and is well worth a visit.
