Inaugurated in 1806, the yellow ochre Great Church was built in the late Baroque style. Two plaques can be seen on the façade, one of which commemorates the victims of the 1848-1849 War of Independence. The other pays tribute to a famous regiment of the First World War. While you are there, keep your ears open for the sound of the chimes. They play a series of tunes ranging from a popular Hungarian melody transformed into an ode to the glory of the soldiers of the country's independence to pieces by Mozart, Kodály and Handel.
