The tower rises to a height of 61m, the town's tallest building. The watchman used to stand on the balcony to give warnings of fire. The place is now open to visitors, who can see the roofs and layout of the town, and enjoy a panorama of the foothills of the Austrian Alps. The tower stands on Roman foundations and consists of several different styles of building, beginning with that of the 12C. The Baroque crest at the top was set there in 1680.
