Classified as a historic monument, Szentendre's main square is cobbled and triangular in shape, with several streets leading off it - some going down to the Danube, others up the hill. In the centre stands a Plague Cross, erected in 1763 by Serbian merchants. Shops and restaurants surround the square, and horse-drawn carriages with liveried coachmen take visitors off for rides around the town.
