Abbey
: Michelin's recommendations
All that remains of the 11C Benedictine abbey is the crypt, which contains the tomb of the founder, King András I, who died in 1060. The abbey church, built in the 18C on the site of the first church, has a carved and decorated interior in the Baroque and Rococo style. A museum housed in a building beside the church contains an exhibition on Charles IV of Habsburg, the last king of Hungary, who waited in vain at Tihany to be restored to the throne.
