Veszprém Travel guide
Veszprém : Michelin's recommendations
After the coronation of Gizella, wife of Stephen I, every queen of Hungary was crowned by the archbishop of Veszprém. The “Town of Queens” was very popular with the country’s monarchs and one of their favourite places of residence. The most pleasant and picturesque area is the old town or castle quarter, consisting of a single street, Vár utca, which runs alongside the Episcopal Palace. The Gizella chapel (Gizella-kápolna) and the Gothic crypt in Szent Mihály cathedral are worth a visit.
