Visegrád’s extraordinary appeal lies in the views from its citadel overlooking the river 350m below. The river, running from neighbouring Slovakia, flows in a meander between the mountains of Börzsöny and Pilis, before heading towards the Hungarian capital. An exhibition in the castle tower narrates the history of its construction. Another exhibition is devoted to the traditional pursuits of those living in and around the castle: hunting, fishing etc. Historical shows are held in summer.
