Former Cistercian Abbey Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

The small town of Bélapátfalva, stretching along a dusty valley, is home to one of the best preserved gems of Hungarian Cistercian architecture. A path leads to the site of the abbey, whose church, restored in the 18C, is almost intact and nestles in a verdant hollow. Inside, admire the organ case, pulpit, sacristy and Baroque altars. The foundations of the abbey, excavated in 1964, are visible outside.
