A UNESCO World Heritage site, the village of Hollóko is comprised of houses which are all built perpendicular to the street. This layout dates from the 17C and 18C. It is the work of the Palóc who built their homes according to a family hierarchy. The result is a pleasing group of whitewashed houses, surrounded by gardens fenced in by woven wood and a wooden steeple. Lucky visitors passing through on Sundays may catch a glimpse of a villager in traditional dress in front of the church.
