Mount Askja (a Caldeira in Icelandic) is nestled in the Dyngjufjöll Massif and contains Iceland’s deepest lake, the unfathomable Öskjuvatn (220m). It offers a magnificent spectacle with the nearby Víti crater, a favourite with swimmers due to its 30°C waters.
