A city that encompasses the legendary Orient of old and the modernity of the present day, the political capital of India is a palette of contrasts. Stretching out along the right bank of the Yamuna, a tributary of the Ganges, Delhi is divided between Old Delhi, the city founded in the 17C, and New Delhi, the capital of the Indian empire established by the British.
