It houses the original Sikh holy book and was built as a place of worship for men and women from all walks of life and religions. Please note that you are required to wear a head covering, remove your shoes and wash your feet before entering the temple. Next, visit the Jallianwala Bagh gardens and the memorial that commemorates the political uprising of 1919. Hear the tragic story of lives lost when Brigadier-General Dyer, the highest ranking British military officer at the time, gave orders to open fire. Your afternoon is free to explore Amritsar.
