Highlights
Then pass by the lively local markets as you make your way to the Red Fort. This 17th-century fort complex served as the residence for the imperial family of India. The architecture of the Red Fort is a mix of Persian, European and Indian styles and is characterized by a sophisticated level of ornamental work and richness in expression and color. The stunning design represents the peak of Mughal creativity; the fort was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007.
After your visit to the Red Fort, enjoy some delicious Mughlai dishes at a local restaurant. Continue on to southern New Delhi to visit Humayun’s Tomb and Qutab Minar.
