This palace, reflected in the waters of an artificial lake, the Gopal Sagar, is a real surprise. Begun under Badan Singh (the ruler of Bharatpur) in 1730, Deeg Palace is flanked by two elegant pavilions and was used as a summer residence by the maharajas up until the 1970s. Enjoy a stroll through the charming Mughal garden, which is cooled on Saturdays in August by hundreds of fountains. Other pavilions, such as the white marble Suraj Bhawan can also be seen here.
