Pemuteran makes an ideal base if you want to go diving in Pulau Menjangan and itself boasts a sheltered bay which is ideal for bathing, as well as several pleasant hotels. The resort is also an example of eco-tourism: the survival of the coral concerns everyone here, and the Biorock method (stimulating the coral's growth with electricity) has been practised here since 2000. As for the turtles, which are under constant threat from fishing and trade, a nursery has been built to protect them before they are ready to be taken out to the ocean.
