The corner of Monkey Forest Road and Jl Raya Ubud marks the very centre of Ubud, distinguished by its large craft and food market where soup or a kebab may be purchased, and the Puri Saren palace, residence of the royal family. Nearby are the enchanting lotus pools of the Pura Saraswati temple, dedicated to the goddess of arts and wisdom: it is worth pausing at the café here... Another fine garden is to be found at the Puri Lukisan museum, which focuses on Balinese art.
