Arriving from Praya, visitors are greeted by a splendid coastal view. The road then drops to Selongblanak, a fishing village sited on a huge sweeping expanse of sand, before heading east towards the hills and to beaches ideal for surfing: beyond the lovely Mawi, the wilder and larger Tempa is reached along a track. After 8km, a small fork to the right leads to Mawun, a beautiful inlet of white sand. Another beach popular with surfers is Are Guling (a little further east).
