Bandung : Michelin's recommendations

Capital of West Java, seat of Sunda culture, and with a majority Muslim population, Bandung and its pleasant climate attracted the Dutch, who made it into an elegant city, the "Paris of Java". Since then it has developed (3.5 million inhabitants) into one of Indonesia's most important industrial and academic centres, all the while managing to retain a distinct artistic and cultural energy. Its name has a place in history thanks to the the famous Asian-African Conference held here in 1955, a meeting which brought together Nehru, Sokarno and Nasser, to name but a few attendees.
