Designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Taman Nasional Gunung Gede Pangrango is named after two volcanoes. It covers 15 000ha of primary tropical rainforest: a fascinating environment where with every step you come across an indigenous plant or unusual flower hidden among the creepers and foliage in the dappled light. The tree ferns can reach a height of 15m and the ramasala (styrax) up to 60m! Amid all this exuberance, it comes as no surprise to see bright and shining mushrooms. Long-tailed macaques and the chirping of all sorts of birds will accompany you through the park.
