This fully renovated museum is housed in the former courthouse (19C). Chinese ceramics are not as well represented here as at the National Museum, but visitors will appreciate the superb Song and Yuan pieces – in particular a series of 14C pale green plates and platters – as well as the Thai, Vietnamese and European ceramics discovered in the archipelago. One section is reserved for the works of some of the great Indonesian painters of the 19C and 20C (eg Affandi, Hendra, Raden Saleh, Sudjojono, Nyoman Manoha and Suwaji).
