Bessbrook : Michelin's recommendations

The village lies to the north of the road leading to Newry and is made up of granite cottages lining three sides of two greens. The flax mill, where its inhabitants worked, stood on the other side of the road. The community, which included churches, schools, shops and a community hall, but no public house, was founded in 1845, by a Quaker linen manufacturer called John Richardson. Bessbrook was one of the first industrial model villages.
