King House
: Michelin's recommendations
King House stands at the eastern end of the main street. This residence was probably designed for Sir Henry King by William Halfpenny, one of Edward Lovett Pearce's assistants, around 1730. A fourth wing was probably intended to close the courtyard. The long, narrow central hall has Venetian wndows at either end. The ground floor, where it faces the river, has 11 bays that give onto the garden. The rooms on each floor have vaulted ceilings.
