This granite peninsula offering splendid landscapes looks south over Dundalk bay and north over the saltwater Carlingford Lough. Don’t miss the Proleek Dolmen (20min walk there and back from the Hotel Ballymascanlon) dating from 3000 BC. According to legend, those who leave three pebbles on the monument will have their wish granted. Another curiosity on the route to the Carlingford Mountains, Windy Gap is a narrow defile between two rocky outcrops. To the south is a fine view of Dundalk bay.
