St George's Terrace : Michelin's recommendations

The local landlord, C.M. St George, had an elegant house built around 1830, which he named after his ancestral home in Cambridgeshire, Hatley Manor. It was followed, in 1839, by the indoor market. Nearby, the Law Courts, designed in 1821 by William Farrell, have lost the entrance portico which was supported by four Doric columns. The courts were connected to the nearby County Gaol by an underground passage. A modern marina now occupies the site, in a bend of the Shannon.
