The Roman Catholic cathedral, with its various architectural styles and sculptures by Albert Power, was built in 1942 by Ralph Byrne near the town's northern gate . To the south, the Anglican church, without aisles but endowed with a gallery, crenellations, a tower and a steeple, was designed by John Bowden, as was the Classical Courthouse opposite. At the Tourist Office, visitors can find a Genealogical Research Centre.
